The surname WAUGH is a corruption of the ‘Wouchop’ clan, from the lowlands of Scotland
the Roxburgh district, there is still a forest called Wouchope, on the border
The name is found now in Cumberland, Northumberland, Durham, and Yorkshire.

3-8.        ISABELLA3 WAUGH (ROBERT1 CHARLES2)  b. abt. 1838, Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire.  Married 21 Sep 1863 to GEORGE MUNRO at Lochmaben.  George’s parent’s were GEORGE MUNRO (farmer) and  MARGARET HALL.  Isabella and George moved to Lancashire (Bolton then Heaton).  GEORGE MUNRO was a wine and spirit merchant, and Isabella once a governess.  On the 1891 census they are living in Bolton, Lancashire.

Customs and Excise, Liverpool. 

4-6.         JESSIE WRIGHT4 WAUGH (ROBERT1 CHARLES2 JOHN3)   b. 1 Apr 1861 (on 1861 census as unnamed Female Baby) Dumfriesshire, Scotland.  Died December 1935, Liverpool.  Married September 1885 to THOMAS CLAYSON born 17 March 1863 in West Derby, England. bp. 20 March 1863 at St. Peters, Liverpool. Died June 1916.  NB nickname Old Granny.  In the 1871 Scotland Census she is age 10 and living with her parents at 6 Rosevale Cottages, scholar. Jessie was a nurse for Dr. William Murray a general practitioner on the 1881 Census and living in his house at 60 Main St North Side Dial House, Burley In Wharfdale, Yorkshire, England.  NBB THOMAS CLAYSON was an Officer in H.M. Customs and Excise, Liverpool,  friends with Lord Leverhulme of  Lever Brothers in Port Sunlight.

Max was an accountant for Lord Lever in Port Sunlight.  He left Jessie when their only child Helen was two.
